About
Bandhavgarh National Park :-
Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the wild life sanctuaries in the Indian state
Madhya Pradesh. The national park is situated at 197 km away north-east of
Jabalpur. This wild life park derived its very name from an ancient fort in the area. Bandhawgarh National Park belongs to the Vindhyan mountain ranges of central India and it boasts to have the highest density of tiger population in the country. Now there are about 46 to 52 tigers one can spot here.
|
|
Set
Amongst the Vindhyan Hills of Madhya Pradesh with an area of
437 sq km, Bandhavgarh was established as the Shikharghar
for the Maharajas of Rewa. Bandhavgarh has been the
epicenter of human activity for over 2000 years. The
legendary epic Ramayana mentions Laxmana Brother of King
Rama who holds the title of "Lord of the Fort".
This mighty fort has its cliff almost 1000ft above the
country side. Imposing statues of Lord Vishnu in his various
reincarnations dot the fort and a unique 35 feet reclining
statue known as "Shesh Shayya" is also located at
the base.

A wildlife retreat, where history and nature meet, Bandhavgarh is not too far away from Kanha. Set amidst the Vindhyan ranges, the Park has a series of ridges running through it. Initially just 105.40 sq. km. in area, Bandhavgarh with 25 resident tigers, was noted for its high density tiger population. Today, it has been extended to an area of 437 sq. km. About half the Park is covered with fine stands of sal, while mixed forests are found in the higher reaches of the hills. Stretches of bamboo and grasslands extend to the north. The main viewing area is still in the core of the Park with its 32 picturesque, wooded hills
How to Reach :-
By Air: Jabalpur (200 km) is the nearest airport, which is well connected to Delhi and Bhopal by Air
Deccan. You can also fly to Khajuraho (310 km), which is more convenient and better connected though the drive is long and tough
By Road: Bandhavgarh is located equidistance from the city of Jabalpur and world famous tourist spot of Khajuraho. You can reach Bandhavgarh by using roads from both these places.
By Rail: Katni at a distance of 120 km on the South-Eastern Railways is the ideal railway connection for reaching Bandhavgarh
Where to stay in Bandhavgarh:-
There are plenty of hotels and resorts in Bandhavgarh, which provide comfortable accommodation... hotels in Bandhavgarh
